FESTIVE ISLANDS – Christmas on Easter Island, Easter on Christmas Island
“I spent the Christmas of 2017 on the far-away Easter Island of Chile, where my crazy idea of spending Easter at the opposite end of the world – on Australia’s Christmas Island – was born!
This exhibition is dedicated to these unique, yet very different islands, named after the holidays on which they were discovered by seafarers. The mysterious Easter Island is known for the enigmatic Moai statues that symbolize this island, and the Rapa Nui National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the Indian Ocean between Indonesia and Australia, Christmas Island is famous for its annual mass migration of more than 120 million red crabs which takes place in the winter months. It is during this migration that I would like to return to this beautiful island in the near future. Who knows, maybe at Christmas?”
I would like to invite you to a photographic tour of these “festive islands”!
